ReliefWeb has been the leading source for reliable and timely humanitarian information on global crises and disasters since 1996.It is a specialized digital service of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). It provides reliable disaster and crisis updates and analysis to humanitarians, so they can make informed decisions and plan effective assistance. Its editorial insight, combined with access to the latest technology, allows it to provide innovative, reliable and informative products and services on a continuous, global basis.Humanitarians need constant access to reliable information and analysis to better understand crises and disasters and to make decisions.ReliefWeb has three main functions:1 - Collect updates and analysis from more than 4,000 global information sources around the clock.2 - Deliver the content most relevant to ReliefWeb's global audience. This content includes country and disaster reports, maps, info-graphics, job announcements and learning opportunities and events of interest to humanitarians.3 - Enable humanitarian partners to analyze context and situations and make better decisions.ReliefWeb has produced a series of Location Maps for use by OCHA and partnering organizations. The ReliefWeb Location Map is a map that highlights a country, its capital and the surrounding regions.
